STRATEGY FOR RECORDING NOTES
It is advisable that an investigator develop a system of making notes so that the practice becomes habitual and nothing is overlooked. The following points act as a guide for Investigators who choose to make hand-written notes.
- All entries must be legible
- Make all entries in ink (not pencil).
- Use notebooks with sequentially numbered pages.
- Record the times and dates of all events and entries.
- Be consistent with the use of abbreviations.
- Any corrections must be crossed out with a single line and re-written so that the original error can still be read.
- Do not leave blank spaces on pages.
- Complete each page.
- Sign and date each entry.
