Chad received the Medal of Valour: Gold Class in 1998. The medal was awarded to Chad for an act of bravery and was bestowed upon him by the deputy minister for safety & security, the Honourable Mr Joseph Mathews MP. Chad has also been nominated for the Order of South Africa: Silver Class. Other medals received include the SANDF General Service Medal as well as the UNITAS Medal. Chad became involved actively in the private security and investigative field in 1995 shortly after resigning his permanent appointment in the South African National Defence Force. Chad's tertiary training in global political risk assessment, as well as the incidence of fraud and corruption in the private and public sectors was conducted through the Institute for Strategic Studies at the University of Pretoria and through the department of Politics and Governance at RAU University. Chad has been appointed in a senior investigative and security capacity to some of the top financial services companies in South Africa including Standard Bank and BoE, as well as being appointed as the GM of one of South Africa's largest security companies. Chad is a certified fraud investigator accredited by the South African Institute of Corporate Fraud Management. Chad has had various papers published dealing with, inter alia, the negative effect that crime has had on foreign investment, the effects of an illicit narcotics trade in an emerging democracy as well as various commentary papers on crime statistics. Chad was also the co-author on a book dealing with urban survival. Chad has attended various conferences and seminars on matters pertaining to crime and corruption in the private and public sectors and shared the podium as a speaker with fellow illustrious corruption fighters such as Judge Willem Heath, ex-head of the Special Investigation Unit created by the then State President, The Hon. Mr Nelson Mandela. Chad has been featured in various newspapers, security publications as well as on television.
